Boston Globe: An idea to make roads greener (UNH Stormwater Center)
The University of New Hampshire Storm Water Center conducted a three-year experiment on pervious pavement that ended in 2008. After a parking lot was paved with porous concrete on the Durham campus, researchers found overall water runoff was reduced by 25 percent, with "little to no runoff during the hottest months" and a reduction in peak flow runoff by 88 percent, according to a UNH report.
