Sidore Lecture: Islamic History Professor Looks at Evil Conspiracy in the Middle East

The 2005-2006 Saul O Sidore Lecture Series at the University of New Hampshire continues Thursday, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m. in Theatre I of the Memorial Union Building with John Voll, professor of Islamic history and associate director for the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University.

Voll was a professor of history at UNH through 1995. With his Islam: Continuity And Change In The Modern World, Makers of Contemporary Islam, a key article on Egypt and Sudan for The Fundamentalism Project, and numerous other publications, Voll has distinguished himself as one of the preeminent interpreters of contemporary Islamic radicalism and the Muslim Middle East’s encounter with modernity. He will address notions of evil conspiracy current in the Middle East in his lecture, which is free and open to the public.
