DURHAM, N.H. -- Picturing Writing: Fostering Literacy Through Art^TM and Image-Making Within The Writing Process^TM will be offered during the month of January on the campus of the University of New Hampshire. These two art-and-literature-based approaches to writing have been proven by research to dramatically improve student reading and writing.

Elementary school teachers, language arts teachers, reading specialists, art specialists, and special education teachers are encouraged to attend. Classroom facilitation practices, classroom management, and mini-lessons will be addressed in each of the workshops. The workshop schedule is as follows:

Jan. 10 & 11, 2003 -- Picturing Writing: Fostering Literacy Through Art (an introduction)

Jan. 12 & 13, 2003 -- Picturing Writing Integrated Curriculum Model

Jan. 18- 20, 2003 -- Image-Making Within The Writing Process: Poetry and Prose Integrated Curriculum Model

The workshops begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. The two-day workshops are $250 and the three-day workshop is $325.
