Young Appointed Associate Vice President for Finance

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

Joanna Young has been appointed associate vice president for finance at the university in addition to her role as chief information officer. She has been serving in the financial position on an interim basis for the past two years.

“During the interim period I asked Joanna to bring her skills to bear in strengthening the financial organization,” said Dick Cannon, vice president for finance and administration. “She has demonstrated very strong leadership skills and management abilities, and I am confident she will continue to do so in this important role.”

Not only will combining the two positions result in a salary and benefits savings for an executive level position, but it will continue to improve efficiencies at the university.

“This move allows us to leverage two great teams of technology and financial experts,” Cannon said. “Technology is an enabler of efficiency, innovation and information management. Finance has a keen focus on analytics and measurement. These combined will help the university to identify and target opportunities for enhancing the mission and focusing on our customers.”

Associate vice president Young’s expanded role is effective immediately. She encourages the campus community to connect with her via her blog CIO.unh.edu and Twitter @unhcio.
