Joseph Reilly ’78, ‘90G, cares deeply about the communities he lives and works in, which is evident by his decades of engagement in local organizations and nonprofits. An alumnus of the University of New Hampshire, Reilly has contributed generously not only to the university, but to the community as a whole. For his outstanding achievements, service and contributions to New Hampshire, he will be recognized with the 2018 Granite State Award at UNH Manchester’s commencement ceremony on May 17.
“Joe grew up in New Hampshire and has deep affection for the state, and we are thrilled to be honoring him with this year’s Granite State Award,” said Mike Decelle, dean of UNH Manchester. “Throughout the years, he’s given his time, talent and treasure to organizations and initiatives centered on making New Hampshire the best place to live and work.”
Reilly has more than 35 years of experience in the New Hampshire banking industry. He recently retired as New Hampshire regional president of Eastern Bank, where he was responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the Bank’s efforts in the New Hampshire region. He was the co-founder and president/CEO of Centrix Bank which merged with Eastern Bank in October 2014. Prior to Centrix, Reilly held positions at Bank of New Hampshire, TD Bank, Centerpoint Bank and Fleet Bank.
Reilly is former chairman and director of the N.H. Bankers Association (NHBA); chairman of the NHBA Legislative Committee; State of N.H. Captain for Team 21, a national organization of the American Bankers Association (ABA); and a member of the Government Relations Council of the ABA.
Reilly has served on the board of directors of Catholic Medical Center, and he also acted as chairman and served on the board of directors for the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. He has been involved with several nonprofits, including Granite United Way, The Way Home and Manchester Community Music School.
Reilly is currently a trustee and vice chair of the New Hampshire Institute of Art, treasurer of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and a trustee of NeighborWorks Southern NH, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living southern New Hampshire through access to quality housing services, neighborhood revitalization and opportunities for personal empowerment.
