Feminism and Classics

Classics Professors Harriet Fertik and Joanna Kenty traveled to the University of Washington in Seattle to take part in "Feminism and Classics 7: Visions" (https://sites.google.com/site/femcon7/home). Scholars attended the conference to share new research on women, gender, and sexuality in the ancient world and to discuss major issues in higher education. The CHI participants represented the breadth and diversity of research in classical studies at UNH. Fertik presented her work on the power of women in Roman tragedy (“The Constructive Power of Women’s Visions in Seneca’s Agamemnon and Oedipus”), and Kenty spoke on the treatment of classical mythology in twentieth-century fantasy fiction (“A New View of Achilles in Marion Zimmer Bradley’s The Firebrand”).
