The Education Department knows Professor Sharkey to be an engaged scholar in the area of ESOL with teachers and immigrant families in NH.  However, her work is wide reaching.

Professor Sharkey is internationally recognized as an engaged scholar, having won two prestigious Fulbright awards. She continues to be actively engaged in service with the Fulbright Foundation reviewing applications on a regular basis.  Further, her scholarly leadership is evidenced through her service on the editorial boards, as well as through her work as Chair of the Research Standing Committee of Teachers of English as a Second Language (TESOL) Association.
