FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MUSEUM OF ART, UNH, SENIOR BA & BFA EXHIBITION AND MFA THESIS EXHIBITION

DURHAM, NH – Three exhibitions featuring the work of emerging artists will be on display at the Museum of Art, University of New Hampshire, April 15-May 20, 2016. The Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Studio Arts and Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition celebrates the achievements of the degree candidates graduating from the Department of Art and Art History, UNH.  The exhibition includes seven BFA candidates, Alexa Bebon (painting); Matthew Kasabian (painting); Jess Mozdierz (painting); Jillian Ryan (photography); Harry Wolfson Slepian (photography); Jillian Swist (painting) and Emily L. Weber (painting). The Master of Fine Arts Exhibition includes candidates, Yedidya Hershberg and Deborah Sebaoun. This exhibition also includes one work from Bachelor of Studio Arts degree candidates, Brianna Cram, Kelsey Fleet, Ansley Holm, Jordan Joncas, and Chloe Sailor. An opening reception will take place on Friday, April 15,   6-8 PM. The Museum is open to the public and free of charge.

BFA Exhibition

The Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition features works from seven candidates who draw upon their own experiences and interests to develop a body of work to present in this annual exhibition. The areas of concentration features a variety of works in painting, drawing, mixed media and photography. BFA candidates will present a gallery talk from scholarly, engaged, and creative research as part of the 17th Annual Undergraduate Research Conference (URC). These presentations,Naked Arts - Creativity Exposed! Act I & II will take place on Wednesday, April 20, 12pm-2pm and Thursday April 21, 12:40pm- 2pm in the Museum of Art, Paul Creative Art Center.

The Department of Art and Art History provide an opportunity, within the liberal arts framework, for students to acquire a thorough knowledge of the basic means of visual expression and study intensively the history of art. The BFA curriculum provides training for students who plan to enter professional graduate school or pursue careers as professional artists.

Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition

On display, April 15-May 20, 2016 artwork representing the culmination of their two-year program will be Yedidya Hershberg and Deborah Sebaoun, candidates for the Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the Department of Art and Art History, UNH.

Yedidya Hershberg and Deborah Sebaoun works are individual explorations of the pictorial imagination through rigorous perceptual investigation. Every painting is conceived through a reactive and contemplative response to nature, as well as a continuous preoccupation with the history of the act of painting and drawing. These foundations are implemented in a series of different subjects including landscapes, portraits, and figures in variegated spaces. All works were executed over the course of a two year candidacy for the Master of Fine Arts in painting.

In addition to the Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition, the Museum of Art’s ArtBreak series will feature a gallery talk on Wednesday, April 27, 12pm- 1pm with MFA candidates Yedidya Hershberg and Deborah Sebaoun, Museum of Art, PCAC. The MFA Thesis Exhibition is supported in part by the Department of Art and Art History, UNH. All exhibitions and programs are supported in part by the Friends of the Museum of Art.

The Museum of Art hours of operation during the academic year: Monday-Wednesday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.; closed Fridays and University holiday.
