Alexa Price '13 (history) has won the North American Conference on British Studies Undergraduate Essay Prize for her essay, "'For Nelson's Sake': The HMS Foudroyant, Naval Nostalgia, and Public Understanding of the Royal Navy at the Close of the Victorian Age." Price wrote the paper under the direction of history professor Nicoletta Gullace, who nominated the essay for the prize.

The North American Conference on British Studies (NACBS) is a scholarly society dedicated to all aspects of the study of British civilization. The NACBS sponsors a scholarly journal, the Journal of British Studies, online publications, an annual conference, as well as several academic prizes, and graduate fellowships. In its undergraduate essay contest, NACBS annually awards twelve prizes of $100.00 each to the best essays on British topics submitted by undergraduates studying in American and Canadian universities.

Price is from Brentwood, New Hampshire. She is currently a first-year Ph.D. student in British history at George Washington University, with the goal of becoming a professor of British history.
