Women's Commission Awards Are April 25

The 22nd Annual Women's Commission Awards Ceremony and Celebration will be held Tuesday, April 25, 4 to 5 p.m., in the Huddleston Hall Oak Room. The keynote speaker is UNH alumnae The Honorable Judge Kathleen McGuire.

McGuire is a New Hampshire Superior Court Judge. A 1970 Alumnae of UNH she was appointed to the Concord Human Relations Commission May 27, 2003, for a one-year term ending May 31, 2004. The Human Relations Commission is charged with fostering equal opportunity, mutual understanding, and respect among all persons. The Commission also seeks to support rights of all persons to be free from all forms of discrimination. Commission members study, investigate, and mediate problems arising from alleged discrimination. The panel also initiates activities and distributes educational materials to promote improved human relations.

McGuire was also the recipient of the 2004 Athena Award Recipient presented annually to individuals who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their profession and provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to improving the quality of life for others in the community, and actively assisting women in realizing their full leadership potential.

Join the commission as it honors those who have contributed to promoting equity, advanced the status of women and served as our mentors, leaders and role models in scholarship and community service. The annual women's commission award ceremony will follow the speaker.
