March 30, 2021: University administrators have made the difficult decision to cancel in-person, on-campus youth programs in summer 2021.
The decision was made after careful review of available staffing, COVID-19 health and safety requirements, and the significant work required over the summer to ensure the university can open fully for the fall semester.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause for family summer planning. We truly appreciate your interest in our youth programs and camps. We look forward to a return to our usual educational and fun programming in summer 2022.
The UNH Community Sailing Centre (UNHCSC) offers an affordable sailing program for students ages 5-18 of any sailing ability, and also offers classes in kayaking and stand up paddleboarding. The primary goals are for kids to have fun on the water, make new friends, and build self confidence while learning skills that are enjoyed over a lifetime.
Classes focus on different skill levels and are offered weekly for 7 weeks. Classes are held at Mendums Pond in Barrington, NH. Students can enroll in any number of weeks.
Aside from learning or improving skills, classes also teach self-responsibility, safety around the water, and teamwork.
These activities are physical sports, and sailing is highly conceptual and students learn at different rates and in different ways. The program allows for these differences by helping kids master the requisite skills at their own pace.
