We appreciate your support, patience and understanding during these uncertain times. The health and safety of our Sailing/Kayaking/Paddleboarding participants, parents and staff remains our highest priority. Given the current guidelines and the unpredictable nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University has cancelled 2020 youth programs, including the Sailing/Kayaking/Paddleboarding program.
The UNH Community Sailing Centre (UNHCSC) offers an affordable sailing program for students ages 5-18 of any sailing ability, and also offers classes in kayaking and stand up paddleboarding. The primary goals are for kids to have fun on the water, make new friends, and build self confidence while learning skills that are enjoyed over a lifetime.
Classes focus on different skill levels and are offered weekly for 7 weeks. Classes are held at Mendums Pond in Barrington, NH. Students can enroll in any number of weeks.
Aside from learning or improving skills, classes also teach self-responsibility, safety around the water, and teamwork.
These activities are physical sports, and sailing is highly conceptual and students learn at different rates and in different ways. The program allows for these differences by helping kids master the requisite skills at their own pace.
