UNH KEEPERS students huddled around water tank

Kids Eager for Engineering Program with Elementary Research-based Science

KEEPERS provides a one week, half-day camp experience involving hands-on, minds-on challenges. The activities encourage inquiry and design skills through engineering challenges developed by experienced KEEPERS teachers and UNH faculty. The campers work in small groups to collaborate with others in solving challenges. Campers are divided into two groups for age-appropriate activities.

For students entering Grades 2-3, activities integrate the first concepts that help young children learn about engineering using fun, hands on challenges which ultimately tie into the real world engineering disciplines that are taught by UNH faculty.

For students entering Grades 4-5, challenges are tied into the disciplines of: Chemical, Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering.

The goal of KEEPERS is to provide age-appropriate activities that will:

a. Engage students in collaborative, problem-based learning activities that integrate math, science, technology, and engineering

b. Introduce students to UNH Engineers and hear about how they use the Engineering Design Process to solve real-world problems

Ultimately, we accomplish this with well-designed challenges, lots of enthusiasm and by having FUN!
