Katie joined the office of Military & Veteran Services in the Fall of 2015 as Military Benefits Coordinator. Working closely with Veterans in her previous position as the Student Services Assistant within the office of Disability Services for Students (DSS) at UNH, Katie recognizes that there are often unique issues faced by student Veterans when entering an institution, especially as non-traditionally aged college students. She also understands the importance of providing a smooth and accessible transition into higher education to promote academic success and degree completion. Working closely with Veterans in regard to their academic and transitional concerns allows Katie the privilege to make appropriate referrals to campus and community resources. Born and raised in New Jersey, Katie graduated with a B.A. in English and a concentration in Early Childhood Education from Kean University (NJ).
Katie is recognized by the State of New Hampshire, New Hampshire Department of Education, and Department of Veteran Affairs as a School Certifying Official for the University of New Hampshire to serve 400 plus Active Duty, Veteran, Guard or Reserves, and/or Dependents using Educational Benefits within the institution. Katie meets with Veterans and dependents regarding the educational benefits process, determination of eligibility, and VA regulations. She also coordinates and administers specific federal programs, including: the GI Bill, Tuition Waivers, GoArmyEd Tuition Assistance system ,and the UNH Yellow Ribbon Program. Katie also supervises Veteran student workers within the office and manages the MVS website and social media outlets.
Katie is excited to start a new chapter in Texas with her husband, Ryan and Puggle, Lulu. She will cherish her time spent at UNH and is grateful for the relationships she has made during her time at MVS. It has been a honor for Katie to serve the military-affiliated community and she looks forward to continue her work with MVS from afar!
