Floor Wars is an activity that occurs in every dorm at the start of the fall semester. It’s a great opportunity to further get to know floor mates as well as other residents in the building. Floor Wars is a friendly competition that lasts for four nights, typically Sunday through Wednesday, and different fun events and wardrobes are planned by the RAs for each night. The events and wardrobes for Christensen Hall this year were really fun and we had a great time both planning the nights, as well as watching our residents participate in the events and dress up. The prize for the winning floor is an ice cream sundae party!
Sunday’s event was Tug-of-War and the floors had to wear their designated floor color previously determined by RAs in a staff meeting. My floor was light blue and we went all out! We did well in the event too, which was a nice bonus. Monday night was “Minute-to-Win-it” with a plaid wardrobe. There were three events—shaving a balloon, pulling tissues out of a tissue box, and a ping pong shake, in which one person has an empty tissue box with ping pong balls strapped to their backs and they must do whatever it takes to let the ping pong balls fall out of the tissue box. Tuesday night was an all-campus photo scavenger hunt with “UNH pride” apparel, and Wednesday night was a frozen T-shirt contest with tie dye clothing as the theme.
In addition to floor wars, we set up a canned food drive for the Waysmeet Center and there were different point values for various donated items. It was a great way to give back to the community amidst all the Floor Wars fun.
