This semester I was fortunate enough to be hired as a peer advisor in the University Advising and Career Center (UACC), located in Hood House! As a peer advisor, I work on reviewing resumes for students applying to internships, jobs, and graduate school. Together with the student I’m assisting, we work on the content, structure, and transferable skills that can be listed on a resume.
What’s great about resume review through the UACC is that it is completely free, no appointment is needed, its open to all UNH students, and we’re open from 12pm-2pm Monday-Thursday in Hood House Room 11.
Besides resume review, there are many other services in UACC that students can utilize, and I’ve used quite a few of them! Through the Academic Advising side of Hood House, students can discover what careers they can pursue based on their major, undeclared students can find their academic advisor, and graduate/professional school advising is also available.
At the UNH Career Center side of Hood House, there are TONS of resources for current students. By accessing the Wildcat Careers account (which everyone should definitely d0), students can take advantage of internship opportunities, register for career events, and make appointments with career advisors. The Career Center also works with employers to post jobs and internships and schedule on campus interviewing. Faculty around campus can request an in-class career presentation. Many services are also available to alumni!
Whether you’ve never written a resume before, are looking for a summer internship, or are logging on to your Wildcat Careers account for the first time, be sure to visit the UACC website at unh.edu/uacc/ and then come visit me for resume review!
