Although it is often times easy to forget, I am attending school over here and that means we have Spring Break from classes. This glorious week has just come to an end and I have got to say that it certainly lived up to and exceeded all of my expectations.
I traveled to Greece with the best student travel agency here Euroadventures. There was a group of 25 of us that met up with two other travel groups making it about 200 students on the trip. We departed from Florence early last Saturday morning and took an overnight cruise into the stunning island of Corfu. The cruise itself was a blast, complete with a casino and “discoteca”! We arrived in Cofu and pulled up to the famous Pink Palace. This hostel has been around since the 1960s and has quite the history-it was even recently voted the #1 party hostel in the world (sorry mom & dad). The palace sits right in the Corfu mountainside and overlooks the stunning beach. We headed straight towards the water and spent the rest of our day lounging in the sun-tough life I know! That night we had the famous Pink Palace Toga party. All 200 students grabbed their pink togas and danced the night away.
My favorite activity in Corfu had to be the ATV quad tour. We had a six hour tour of the island and saw some of the most incredible views ever. We even did some off-roading to the top of a mountain!
We then had an overnight bus ride to Athens. I knew very little about Greece so I had no idea what to expect of the city. Our hotel had a rooftop bar that overlooked the city and had the most amazing view of the Acropolis. I immediately fell in love. We had a grand tour of Athens that day in which we saw the Temple of Zeus, the Acropolis, and the original Olympic Stadium. I decided to become an Olympic athlete for the day and I challenged my tour guide to a race. As seen pictured- I was victorious. That short exercise was quickly ruined however once we each got a giant gyro on our walk home!
Greece was honestly one of the best weeks of my life and I’m afraid to say that I don’t think any upcoming Spring Break trips will be able to top it-sorry PCB and Cancun! As much as I loved it, it was once again wonderful to come back to my home in Florence. I’m pretty sure I’m living in a dream world over here but I’m just going to keep going until I wake up.
