With Halloween falling on a Wednesday this year, students are confused – which weekend is campus celebrating the holiday? The better question is, what does this campus have to offer for Halloween? Plenty. It seems UNH is fully stocked when it comes to activities this year. In the Gables, the staff is holding it’s first ever PumpkinFest for Gables residents on Friday, October 26th from 2pm-4pm. PumpkinFest is a free event and it includes pumpkin carving contests, pumpkin decorating, professional cooking demonstrations and tutorials, prizes, giveaways, and of course, pumpkin smashing!
What if you don’t live in Gables? On campus there’s a Halloween Skate in the Whittemore Center on Wednesday, October 31st from 6:15-8:45 p.m. Along with ice skating, there will also be cookie decorating, witches brew, free pumpkins, and Halloween music. @UofNH is a giving away dinner and a movie for two in Portsmouth! How do students enter? Simply tweet a picture in your costume with the hashtag #UNHhalloween standing next to The Wildcat statue before Tuesday, October 30th. The best costume receives dinner for two at The Friendly Toast and two movie tickets for The Music Hall. Winner chosen on Halloween!
Many dorms are having individual Halloween celebrations, so look for posters or ask your RA for more information. Off-campus, there are multiple opportunities for students to be scared into the Halloween spirit, especially at DeMeritt Hill Farm’s Haunted Overload. Their schedule runs from Friday-Sunday nights now through October 28th.
If you’re still confused as to which weekend you should celebrate, many UNH students have made it pretty clear that both will do! With Halloween inspired events on and off campus, why not have some fun and live it up twice?
