Family Weekend at UNH

Family Weekend at UNH

What is happening at UNH Family Weekend?

Family Weekend at UNH is the perfect time to have the folks from back home come visit! You can show them around campus, give them a taste of our wildcat pride, and have an awesome time at some of these University-sponsored events planned all throughout the weekend. Here are just a handful of the things that will be going on all over campus, but be sure to check out the whole list of events if you have the time, and don’t forget to register!

Geocache Passport

When your family checks in at the Whittemore Center, whether that be on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, make sure you also pick up your Geocache Passport! The Geocache event will be going on for the whole weekend, and when you attend other events, you can get this passport stamped. Getting all the stamps and turning in your completed passport will enter you to win an awesome prize – $50 to the UNH Bookstore! Whether you share that with the family or deck yourself out in UNH swag is up to you!

Apple Harvest Dinner at HoCo

Friday night, after you show your parents your spotless room, which you swear is always like that (of course it is), you can head to a special family dinner at Holloway Commons. This dinner will have an Apple Harvest theme, so for all those fall flavor lovers out there, I highly recommend it.  After dinner, right down the hall in the Strafford Room of the Memorial Union Building, there will be a Dueling Pianos show at 9pm, as well as two different movies playing upstairs in the MUB theaters.

Events Throughout the Weeekend

Saturday is the busiest day of family weekend, starting early at 9:00 am for the Parent Coffee at the Elliott Alumni Center. After that, there are many different events to choose from! One of the annual favorites is the family picnic on Lewis Field – held rain or shine! There will be a football game next door at Cowell Stadium starting at 3:00pm, with UNH going head to head with Stony Brook University. There will also be a hockey game later on, for those UNH sports fans who just can’t get enough, starting at 7pm in the Whittemore Center. For those more interested in the arts, there is also an A cappella concert in Murkland at 3pm, and comedian Tracey Ashley performing in the MUB Strafford Room at 9:00pm! There really is something for everyone to enjoy, so check out the full schedule when you register to make sure you make the most of this weekend!

UNH Family Weekend Finale

UNH Family Weekend will wrap up on Sunday with the Family Weekend Finale at the Whittemore Center, which includes a delicious pancake breakfast! Afterwards, it might be hard to say goodbye, but remember: it’s not long until Thanksgiving! And make sure before they go, you snap a classic picture together in front of the UNH wildcat, because they’re as proud to have a wildcat as you are to be one!
