Alumni Tale: Clayton Groves ’06

What did you study at UNH?

What were you doing one year out of college?

I was directing the Conway campus of White Mountains Community College. I got married and had my first kid.

What were you doing five years out of college?

I was managing the Running Start Program at Lakes Region Community College and had just begun a quest to catch and eat every kind of freshwater fish in N.H. I did manage to finish the quest and launched the Fish Nerds podcast.

What are you doing now?

I am directing afterschool programming for the Conway School District. I’m the cohost of one of the most popular outdoor shows in N.H., the Fish Nerds podcast. It’s been featured on NHPR, Boston Public Radio and most print media in the state. I have two small children and spend my time fishing and playing.

How do you feel your time at UNH has had an impact on where you are today?

It’s made it so I can communicate effectively, set goals and has enhanced my sense of humor. Having a degree in psychology has made it so I can understand how people think and why they do the things they do.

Why do you believe in UNH?

It’s the most affordable option in N.H. The instructors are dedicated and the student body is a ton of fun.
