What is Safe Rides?
Safe Rides gives UNH students a sober ride home.
What is Safe Rides NOT?
Safe Rides is not a taxi service, a warm car when it’s cold, an umbrella when it’s raining, relief for tired but otherwise healthy bodies, an escort service, a ride from one party to another party, or a justification for irresponsible drinking. Safe Rides should be a backup plan and and should not be abused.
When does it operate?
Safe Ride operates Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. when school is in session (Semester I and II). Safe Rides is subject to cancellation in the event of weather emergencies.
Where does it go?
Safe Rides serves the UNH campus, Durham, Dover, Lee, Madbury, Newmarket, and Portsmouth.
How are rides scheduled?
Rides are on a first-come-first-served basis with priority given to people who are not within walking distance of their residence. Call 603-365-6406.
How much does it cost?
There is no charge for this ride. It is supported by the student transportation fee.
