Dean Elder, D.V.M. is the new Director of the UNH Animal Resources Office (ARO).  Dean has worked in the ARO since 2005 in various positions, including Associate Director.   He has been Interim ARO Director since mid August.   Dean is also UNH’s Attending Veterinarian, the IACUC Veterinarian, the IACUC Vice Chair, and UNH’s authorized DEA representative for controlled substances.   He also works for COLSA as the Agricultural Experiment Station Veterinarian.

In his new role as ARO Director, Dean is responsible for the overall implementation of UNH animal care and use program to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing animal care and use for all University animal facilities, and for directing the ARO.
