Leading Wireless Expert to Head Discussion of Advanced Wireless Broadband Standards

Dr. Apurva Mody, a world renowned expert on wireless technology, will present the latest information on advanced wireless broadband standards.

The IEEE 802.22 Wi-FARTM/ Super Wi-Fi standards support cognitive radio-based use of TVWS to enable regional and rural broadband wireless access serving more than 3.5 Billion people. Under Dr. Mody' s leadership, the IEEE 802.22 WG is the recipient of the IEEE SA Emerging Technology Award. Dr. Apurva will provide a detailed look at the work he is leading in the 802.22 program.

Paul Nikolich, Chairman of IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee and IEEE fellow, will provide an overview of IEEE 802 work to open the discussion.

The overall discussion will be concluded by Dr. Rouzbeh Yassini, Executive Director of the UNH Broadband Center of Excellence (BCoE), stating how the UNH BCoE is utilizing the TVWS to empower 30 M American without access to Broadband to be connected.

Dr. Mody received his Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Mody is Chairman of the International Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards Committee 802.22 on Wireless Regional Area Networks, which has developed standards for wireless regional area networks using TV White Space (TVWS) unlicensed spectrum. He is also the Chairman of the Whitespace Alliance.
