NIH Proposal Development Tools Updated for 2018 Are Now Available in the Scholars’ Repository

The tools created by Research Development staff to assist you with preparing your applications to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have been updated to comply with changes in policy and procedures effective January 25, 2018.

Now available along with other resources in RD’s NIH Proposal Development Tools folder in the Scholars’ Repository (http://scholars.unh.edu/nih):

Biosketch Deconstruction–NIH Effective 1.25.18 - information from the NIH guidance documents presented in an easy-to-us, tabular, bulleted format
Biosketch-Sample - Annotated Effective 1.25.18 - sample of the Biosketch provided by NIH with notes added by UNH Research Development staff regarding content and formatting that include clarified guidance from NIH
MyBibliography - Tips and Hints 2.1.18 - links to resources to assist investigators with preparing their online bibliographies (publications lists) that can be incorporated into the NIH biographical sketch

Cover Letter–NIH -- When to Include in Application/UNH Template Effective 1.25.18 – a tool to use to (1) decide whether a cover letter should be included, and (2) prepare the cover letter which incorporates the most recent information from the NIH guidance documents as well as advice from the NIH Office of Extramural Research and various NIH Institutes and Centers

Formatting for NIH Attachments Effective 1.25.18 - instructions for creating files that will be included as attachments presented in an easy-to-us, tabular, bulleted format

Deconstructions present the information for preparing applications for the specified mechanisms from the NIH guidance documents (general instructions and relevant FOAs) in an easy-to-us, tabular, bulleted format. They include requirements and resources for using the new Human Subjects and Clinical Trials Information form.

UNH Hints for NIH Facilities and Other Resources Section 11.29.17 - advice for completing the Facilities and Other Resources section of NIH applications, including specific hints and example text for inclusion in R01 applications submitted by Early Stage Investigators and for meeting the additional requirements for R15 (AREA) applications. Student enrollment figures, as well as number of participants in the Undergraduate and Graduate Research Conferences, reflect Fall 2017 data.
