Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:
As our nation mourns the loss of innocent lives in this weekend’s shootings in both El Paso and Dayton, we want to express our sincere condolences to the families, friends and communities of the victims.
Words fail to describe the horror we felt as we learned of these shootings over the weekend, with 31 killed and dozens wounded. It appears that the killer in the El Paso shooting will be treated as a domestic terrorist and charged with federal hate crimes.
We know these mass shootings can be extremely difficult to process, and we remind everyone that Psychological and Counseling Services, Health & Wellness and local faith leaders are available to assist anyone who needs support and wants to talk.
We also want to stress that our UNH community stands against hate and intolerance in all forms. This week, as we remember the victims, let us recommit ourselves to spreading more light, kindness and understanding in caring for each other.
Thank you and best wishes,
James W. Dean Jr., President
