Interns are challenged to examine themselves and their worldviews as they develop as psychologists. Senior staff supervisors assist interns in exploring contextual variables that impact clinical and other professional functioning. At times these variables can involve personal disclosure but will always be in the service of enhancing the intern’s effectiveness. Such disclosures will be done within the context of the supervisory relationship and with the focus on enhancing the intern's effectiveness. If an intern has any concerns about disclosing personal information, the senior staff supervisor is expected to work with the intern to resolve concerns and move forward in supervision.
