Welcome to BSU's 12th Annual Black Family Weekend registration!
Black Family Weekend is inclusive of all students and their families. However, it serves to provide a time for students of color, particularly Black students to indulge in events, activities, and conversations pertaining to their culture. It is an important weekend for students of color who make up the minority of our campus to have a weekend be about them and their families.
The Black Family Weekend Opening Dinner will take place on April 26th in the Holloway Commons Piscataqua Room at 7 pm. The performers for the opening night dinner are Martin Toe (musician) and Anthony Thomas (speaker). The menu consist of oxtail, curry chicken, rice & beans, plantains and Jamaican beef patties.
On Saturday, April 27th there will be three activities during the morning into the afternoon.
from 11:00am-3:30pm. The activities are as follows:
Filling in the Black Canvas
Do All Families Think Alike: Yes or Nah?
The Saturday night of April 27th we will be hosting our 12th Annual Black Family Weekend Fashion Show. This year, we are celebrating the theme Reclaiming our Culture on a Personal, Societal and Institutional Level. The Fashion Show is one of the most popular BSU events of each academic year. We encourage you to bring your family and friends for a night of community gathering and Black Excellence.
On Sunday, April 28th, we will be having a closing barbeque in the MUB Entertainment Center. During this time we usually reminisce over the events of the weekend and share best moments. There will be food and great music!
Our event is free for UNH students and $3 for non-students. If there is any financial issue with any of your members feel free to reach out and we can possibly wave the fee and get y'all free tickets. Tickets are only needed for the Friday night dinner and the Saturday night fashion show.
We hope to see some of y'all there!
