Rule 21: Misuse of the Conduct System

First Offense:

  • 1 year Disciplinary Probation

21b. Falsification, distortion, or misrepresentation of information before a Hearing Panel or University Hearing Officer

First Offense:

  • 1 year Disciplinary Probation – University Suspension
  • Educational Sanction(s)

If University Suspension, upon return:

  • Required Interview
  • Disciplinary Probation until graduation
  •  Educational Sanction(s)
  • Additional Follow Up Meetings with OCS Administration

21c. Disruption or interference with the orderly conduct of a conduct proceeding

Aggravating Factors:

  • Level of disruption to individual or community

First Offense:

  • 1 year Disciplinary Probation – University Suspension
  • Educational Sanction(s)

If University Suspension, upon return:

  • Required Interview
  • Disciplinary Probation until graduation
  •  Educational Sanction(s)
  • Additional Follow Up Meetings with OCS Administration

21d. Instituting a student conduct proceeding knowingly without cause

First Offense:

  • Disciplinary Probation until graduation – University Dismissal
  • Educational Sanction(s)

If University Suspension, upon return:

21e. Attempting to discourage an individual’s proper participation in, or use of, the conduct system

First Offense:

  • Disciplinary Probation Until Graduation – Dismissal

If University Suspension, upon return:

21f. Attempting to influence the impartiality of a member of a Hearing Panel prior to, and/or during the course of, the conduct proceeding

21g. Harassment (verbal or physical) and/or intimidation of a member of a judicial system prior to, during, and/or after a judicial proceeding.

  • Disciplinary Probation Until Graduation – Dismissal

  • Banned from Entry if appropriate
  • Relocation/Eviction if appropriate

21h. Failure to comply with the sanction(s) imposed under the Student Code of Conduct

Aggravating Factor:

  • If OCS lifts a student account hold so that a student may register for classes or obtain a transcript, with the agreement that sanctions will be completed, and the student continues to fail to complete sanctions, one semester suspension will be imposed.

First Offense:

  • $25 Fine
  • Warning- 1 year probation
  • Educational Sanction(s)
  • Requirement to complete original sanction to standards established by OCS

21i. Influencing or attempting to influence another person to commit an abuse of the conduct system

First Offense:

  • Disciplinary Probation Until Graduation – Dismissal
  • Educational Sanction(s)
  • Prohibition Against Personal Contact if appropriate
  • Banned from Entry if appropriate
