Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Customer service, at the service window and on the telephone
  • Use shipping software programs to prepare outgoing shipments
  • Learn best practices for preparing and packaging outgoing shipments
  • Use cash register extensively
  • Sort and distribute mail effectively and efficiently
  • Sort and distribute packages effectively and efficiently
  • Use SCLogic software to receive and distribute packages & mail
  • Adhere to Postal Center Policy and Procedure in completion of all job tasks
  • Perform basic cleaning duties, including sweeping and emptying trash/recycling bins
  • Keep neat and professional work attire while on shift, responsible for MUB work shirt
  • Check and read email regularly for work related updates and announcements
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned

Time Requirements

  • Expected to work both Full semester shifts and at least 2 Supplemental schedule shifts 
  • Attend at least 2 All Staff meetings per semester (held once a month, 7pm-8pm)
  • Attend at least 2 MUB Training sessions per semester
  • Upon hire, attend “FISH” video training at one of the scheduled showings
  • Students who live on campus within walking distance of the MUB are required to work when Curtailed Operations are called for the University
  • Return to campus early at the beginning of Fall semester for Opening Weekend

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. from ground level to 5 feet
  • Must be able to maneuver easily in narrow and/or crowded areas
