Jacob Tancrell is a Veteran of the US Navy with two tours of duty at sea, where he worked as a quartermaster. Mr. Tancrell chose UNH based on the recommendations of friends, but was also attracted by the robust Neuroscience program here. He particularly appreciated the fact that the professors were really willing to accept students into their labs. While he expected to find that he lagged behind his classmates coming to college straight out of high school, he found that he was more competitive than he anticipated. Based on this experience, he would give this advice to incoming student Veterans: “Remember your training and help the students coming in who have little life experience.” Upon graduating from UNH with a BS in Neuroscience and Behavior, Jacob looks forward to finding employment in the Portsmouth, NH area, hopefully with the lab at Lonza. He also hopes to return to school in the future to pursue a doctorate.
