Bruce Fritz is a Veteran of the US Air Force who served a combat tour with NATO ISAF in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2012. Bruce is graduating this year with a Doctorate of Philosophy in Physics, having completed his research in space atmospherics. Dr. Fritz chose UNH because we have a “great space research program” and a “beautiful campus”. When asked, he said that his favorite thing about UNH was “the incredible research opportunities that were available to me, from field work at the South Pole to a NASA rocket launch in Norway.” The most important lesson Bruce learned was that “Hard work and persistence can get you far. Don’t be afraid to do the dirty work to get your foot in the door.” He also advises incoming student Veterans to “take advantage of all the resources available, Veteran services included. People all over campus are available to help you succeed, you just need to ask.” Dr. Fritz plans on continuing his scientific research, preferably at a government lab.
