Ana Alejandro is a United States Navy Veteran and currently serving in the NH Air National Guard. While in the Navy, she had served aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) for a 9-month World Tour Deployment. She chose to come back to New Hampshire to pursue her Master of Social Work degree from UNH. One of her favorite aspects of studying at UNH is the opportunity to experience social work in a multidisciplinary way throughout campus, especially with the Center for Social Innovation and Enterprise. Her biggest lesson learned and advice to incoming student veterans is, “You have a lot to offer as a veteran – do not underestimate your abilities or influence! Talk to everyone you can and do not restrict yourself to the major or path that you may choose, rather live curiously and explore and take advantage of all of the opportunities that are there for students.” Post-graduation, Ana will be attending the University of Massachusetts Boston for a PhD in Global Inclusion and Social Development.
