Salary increase announced for March 2020

Dear colleagues,

Every one of you contributes to the success of the university by supporting our students, keeping our campuses beautiful and serving our state through research, engagement and outreach. You have done and continue to do great work in support of our four strategic priorities. The strength and quality of UNH is a direct result of your commitment, hard work and belief in our mission – thank you.

We remain in a very challenging environment. Higher education overall continues to face increasing financial constraints nationwide, and UNH is no exception. As you know, our first-year class in Durham this year was down by about 300 students.

Despite these pressures, the university’s leadership team is committed to doing everything we can to support you with a competitive salary and benefits package. I am pleased to recognize your hard work and commitment with a salary increase for eligible non-union employees, effective March 1, 2020. It includes an across-the-board increase of 1% and a merit/equity pool of 1.5%. While I would have liked the merit/equity pool to be at 2% and for the increase to be effective January 1, our budget did not allow for that this year.

As the end of this semester draws near and we prepare to give thanks with friends and loved ones, I hope you will join me in reflecting on everything we’ve accomplished and the work we have to do moving forward.
