At the beginning of FY18, UNH IT Telecom successfully transitioned the resident halls from a shared wired/wireless environment to a wireless-only environment. This transition allows the University to save approximately $1.5 million on cabling upgrades and equipment replacement.
The chart below shows the steady decline in wired port usage in the resident halls over the course of four years and helped UNH leadership make the decision to move to a wireless-only environment.

Effective and efficient delivery of network access is integral to the University community. It touches every part of daily life here at UNH, including residential life, academic delivery, and research. In 1928, University of New Hampshire (UNH) Professor of Zoology, C. Floyd Jackson opened the first summer Marine Zoological Laboratory on Appledore Island, Isles of Shoals. Since then, the island has enjoyed steady growth in the area of marine research.
