Portal software evaluation underway!
As part of the migration from Blackboard to myCourses, we have kicked off the Portal Review Project to evaluate MyUNH the UNH portal currently available at https://blackboard.unh.edu. This project is co-sponsored by Dr. P.T. Vasudevan, Interim Provost, and Joel Seligman, Chief Communications Officer. It was approved by the Academic Standards and Advising Committee (ASAC+) plus representatives from the Graduate School, the Library, and Business Services.
The Portal Review Project entails evaluating current MyUNH services as well as analysis and assessment of alternative portal products. MyUNH services include access to WebCat, the Booklist, Faculty Activity Reporting, and Directed Communication. A core group of representatives from Academic Achievement and Support, Academic Technology, Business Services, Communications and Public Affairs, Human Resources, the Registrar’s Office, and UNH IT are currently evaluating a range of portal products. Vendor demonstrations for the UNH community will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
Our goal is to engage students, faculty, and staff in attending portal product demonstrations and providing feedback through surveys and a campus forum. Based on a number of factors including UNH community feedback, technical requirements, price, and ease of use and management, the core group will recommend a portal product to ASAC+ in May 2016. Once funding is secured, we will implement the recommended product over fiscal year 2016-2017.
