New Password Policy Impacts Students

The University System of New Hampshire (USNH) has a new password policy to improve information security and to protect your privacy. Faculty and staff started adhering to the new policy in October 2019, and students will be added to the mix starting early February.

This policy is a change for students, as they will now have to change their passwords once a year. Students will be slowly added to the password change pool over the next several weeks and will receive a ‘Password Change Reminder’ notification when it’s time to act. Students can also change their password immediately to avoid the wait.

The new password standard calls for a password between 14-64 characters with no complexity (for example, it can be all lowercase) and no limits on special characters.

To change your password, go to and follow the on-screen instructions.
