Updates to myCourses for Saturday, September 15, 2018

September 20, 2018

by Louise Jones

myCourses by Canvas operates on a three-week release cycle through which features are added or updated. Academic Technology Teaching and Learning Support blogs highlights from myCourses’ production release notes, a link to these notes, and other relevant content in the days surrounding a production release.

Updated Features:

Gradebook Section filter:  In the Gradebook when the Section filter is applied the filter results will also be applied to the Speedgrader.  To unfilter the Section, return to the Gradebook and in the filter select All Sections.

Gradebook CSV import:  In the Gradebook, the import of a CSV file supports updates to custom columns. This allows instructors to import content into the Notes field.

Learning Mastery Gradebook:  When viewing the Learning Mastery Gradebook, instructors can view paginated links at the bottom of the page. Pagination is also supported when outcomes and student filters are selected in the filter. This update helps instructors more easily view results in a course.

Speedgrader Submission Comments PDF Export:  In the Speedgrader sidebar there is an option to download the Comments field into a PDF file.  The PDF displays the instructor’s name, date and time and the comment details, as well as, the assignment name, course, student and grade.  This feature applies to instructors only.

Calendar and Card View Dashboard:  The default color hex values in the Calendar and Dashboard now display a color contrast of 3:1.  This update helps with accessibility.

Admin Updates and Bug Fixes:

Create Discussions Permission:  This feature allows admins to specify user roles that are allowed to create discussion in a course but not create announcements.
