In order to better protect UNH data, the virtual private network (VPN) will start using Host Checker on November 17. Host Checker ensures that computers accessing secured data through systems such as Banner comply with security policies, including having up-to-date antivirus with real time protection and proper firewall settings.
Host Checker will be set to warning mode from November 3 - 16 to alert UNH VPN users when their computers fail the security policies. During this time, Host Checker will not prevent you from accessing data, but please take action if your computer receives a warning. The warning message will indicate which security measure was not met (see image to the right).
On November 17, if your computer fails Host Checker’s policies, you will be unable to gain access to secured data until your computer is in compliance.
