Tax season is prime time for cyber crime. During this time of year, cyber criminals perpetrate scams to obtain the personally identifiable information needed to steal an identity, file tax returns against stolen identities, and engage in other criminal activity related to filing taxes and/or the IRS. If you suspect you’ve fallen victim to identity theft, please refer to the IRS website to file a complaint of record with your local police department.
