Xtender: Install Web Components

This tip is for anyone using the web version of Xtender.

In order to perform many of its tasks, Xtender needs the help of a few plug-ins installed on your computer. You can install those plug-ins (or web components, as they're also known) using an installer. There are a couple ways you can do that.

Option 1: Run installer from Configuration Manager / Application Catalog

If you have Configuration Manager on your computer, you can run the installer from the Application Catalog (App Cat). The benefit of this option is that you don't need to have administrator privileges for installing software on your computer.

  1. Launch App Cat (https://appcat.unh.edu) and sign in.
  2. Select the ApplicationXtender Client from the list of available applications
  3. Click the Install button
  4. Confirm the installation
  5. Once the web components have been installed, you can find the program listed on the Programs and Features list.

Option 2: Run installer from the network

Note: For this option, you must have administrative rights to your machine.

  1. Log into the Enterprise VPN.
  2. Open the following network folder:  \\ecglib.unh.edu\public$\AX\7sp1\WebAccessClientComponents\7sp1
Note: If you are prompted for a password to get to this folder, use your regular password and, in the user name field, type ad\ in front of your user name (Example:  ad\username)
  3. Copy the ApplicationXtender Web Access Client Components 7.0 file to your desktop and run it from there. This is the installer which will install the Xtender web components.
  4. Click the Run button.
  5. Click the Next button.
  6. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click the Next button.
  7. Enter User Name and Organization and click the Next button.
  8. Confirm the Destination Folder and click the Next button.
  9. Leave the default to Complete installation and click the Next button.
  10. Click the Finish button to complete the installation.
  11. Once the web components have been installed, you can find the program listed on the Programs and Features list.
