Xtender: Fix the pdfFactory Pro Printing Problem

This tip is for anyone having trouble printing multiple documents from Xtender, using pdfFactory Pro. This affects users who have Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10.

Typically, when you print multiple documents from Xtender with pdfFactory Pro, those documents combine into a single pdf. This useful feature recently "broke" when Microsoft released security updates KB3177725 (for Windows 7 and 8.1 users) and KB3176492 / KB3176493 / KB3176495 (for Windows 10 users).  

Microsoft has released a patch to fix the update for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users. Follow the steps below to install that patch.

Note:  This patch does not fix the problem for Windows 10 users. If you are running Windows 10 and experiencing this printing problem, you will need to manually uninstall the KB3176492 update from the Control Panel [or KB3176493 or KB3176495, whichever update is on your computer].

To install the patch from the Application Catalog (App Cat):

  1. Launch App Cat (https://appcat.unh.edu) and sign in.
  2. Select Windows patch to repair print functionality from the list of available applications

  3. Click the Install button
  4. Confirm the installation
  5. Once the patch has been installed, you will be able to use pdfFactory Pro to print multiple documents into a single pdf .
