System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac Usage Instructions

Updating, Scanning, and Virus Removal

Updating

  1. Open System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection by double clicking the icon on the menu bar. 
     
  2. In the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection interface, click the Update tab, located on the left column.


     

  3. Click Update virus signature database, to commence update.

     
  4. Update complete.

 

Scanning

  1. Open System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection by double clicking the icon on the menu bar. 
     
  2. In the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection interface, click the Computer scan tab, located on the left column.
  3. Click Custom Scan.

     
  4. In the Custom Scan screen, check the hard-drive (ex. untitled) and click Scan.


     

  5. Wait for the scan to complete. 
  6. Once scan is complete, click OK if there are no viruses found.

Virus Removal

  1. If a virus has been detected, the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection icon on the menu bar will turn red. 
     
  2. Open System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection by double clicking the red icon.
  3. Click the Computer Scan tab, located on the left column.


     

  4. Click Custom Scan and select your hard-drive and click Scan.
  5. Wait for the scan to complete.
  6. Scan complete.
  7. In the scan notes, it displays the amount of objects scanned, the number of infected objects, and the number of cleaned objects. System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection automatically "cleans" infected objects by quarantining them.
