What is a Sponsored User Account?

Sponsored User accounts are intended to provide access to IT computing resources for individuals who do not have a qualifying affiliation with UNH, GSC, or USNH but who do have legitimate business requiring IT access.


Examples of Sponsored Users include:

       Contractors, Consultants and Vendors
       Former/terminating employees
       Visiting students and scholars
       Affiliate Faculty
       Volunteers

 

How do I request a Sponsored User Account? 

Follow these steps to request a Sponsored User Account(s)

  1. Go to unh.edu/it/accounts  (Note: Do Not Use Internet Explorer).
  2. Click on IT Accounts Management System and log in
  3. Click Add
  4. Click New Sponsored User
  5. Complete the form and select required access
  6. At Step 6 Verify your submission and click Submit Account Requests

Note: 

  • The request will automatically be routed to the designated sponsor for approval.
  • The Sponsored user will receive an email notification when the Sponsored User account is ready.

 

Who can approve Sponsored User request?

UNH: UNH Sponsored Users must be approved by a Dean, Vice President, Provost and Executive Vice President, the University President or their Designated Sponsor Representative.

GSC: GSC Sponsored Users must be approved by the GSC Chief Technology Officer or Dean of Integrated Technologies and Services.

USNH: USNH Sponsored Users must be approved by a Director or Department Head.

 

What is a Designated Sponsor Representative?

A UNH Dean, Vice President, Provost and Executive Vice President, or the University President may choose to appoint a UNH employee to act as a sponsor in their place.  This person is referred to as a Designated Sponsor Representative (DSR) and will have an appointment of one year, unless extended by the original sponsor.

For more information on the DSR process or to apply for DSR status go to the Accounts Management System, click Add, and then click the DSR Request.

 

 

What is the Role of the Sponsor?

The Sponsor assures verification of the sponsored user's identity, affiliation, and intended usage of UNH IT computing resources. The Sponsor will also assure the user's compliance with the USNH Acceptable Use Policy and accepts responsibility for the actions of the sponsored individual.

 

What if I have a group I want to get sponsored?

Use the UNH Group Sponsorship Form to request Sponsored User Status for a group of individuals with identical account needs, duration, and purpose at UNH.

For GSC or USNH group sponsorships, please contact the UNH IT Service Desk at 862-4242.

Depending on group size, group sponsorship processing can take up to 5 business days.

 

What is the duration of sponsorship?

A Sponsored account will have a duration of 1 year unless a shorter term is specified in the account request.

 

How do I request additional accounts for a Sponsored User? 

If additional accounts are requested after Sponsored User access has been granted, an additional request for sponsorship must be submitted, following these steps by following these steps:

  1. Go to www.unh.edu/it/accounts  (Note: Do Not Use Internet Explorer).
  2. Click on Accounts Management System and log in
  3. Click Add
  4. Click New Sponsored User
  5. Complete the form
  6. At Step 3,
    - Enter the Username or ID number of the User, if known.
    -  You will see a “User Found” popup message: 

7. Click Cancel and complete the rest of the form.
8. At Step 4, select the additional account access to be sponsored.
9. At Step 6, verify your submission and click Submit Account Requests.

 

How do I renew a Sponsorship?

An attempt is made to notify Requesters when a Sponsorship is nearing the expiration date.  If you do nothing, the sponsorship will expire and access will be terminated on the expiration date.

  • To renew Sponsored User status prior to the end date if you are the original requester:
  1. Go to unh.edu/it/accounts  (Note: Do Not Use Internet Explorer).
  2. Click on Accounts Management System and log in
  3. Click Edit
  4. Go to Renew Sponsored User option
  5. Click on View My Approved Sponsorship Requests
  6. Locate the user’s name and select:

Renew – to extend the sponsorship
or
Revoke – to terminate the sponsorship prior to the expiration date

7. Follow the onscreen instructions and submit the form.

Note:  The request will automatically be routed to the appropriate sponsor for approval

 

  • To renew Sponsored User status prior to end date if you are NOT the original requester: 
  1. Go to unh.edu/it/accounts  (Note: Do Not Use Internet Explorer).
  2. Click on Accounts Management System and log in
  3. Click Edit
  4. Click Renew Sponsored User
  5. Complete the onscreen instructions and submit the form.
  6. The request will automatically be routed to the appropriate sponsor for approval

  • IF the Sponsorship has already expired, follow the steps above for requesting a New Sponsored User Account.


How do I terminate a Sponsored User Account?

Sponsored accounts will automatically terminate after the expiration date.  

To terminate a sponsored account before the expiration date, follow these steps:

  1. Go to unh.edu/it/account  (Note: Do Not Use Internet Explorer).
  2. Click on IT Accounts Management System and log in with your UNH username and password
  3. Click Remove
  4. Click Revoke Sponsorship Status and IT Access
