Sibelius - License Server Requires VPN or Wired Network

Sibelius is a music notation program that is licensed by the UNH Music Department for the entire campus.  For information on installing Sibelius, see the list of academic software applications.

Due to the license manager used for Sibelius, there are some specific network requirements to run the application. You must use one of the following network configurations:

  • Wired Ethernet connect on the UNH campus
  • A UNH wireless network along with the UNH VPN service
  • Off-campus Internet connections along with the UNH VPN service

Attempts to run Sibelius using even the "UNH-Secure" wireless network without also logging into the VPN will fail.

For assistance with getting connected to UNH wired or wireless network connections and the VPN service, please call the UNH IT Service Desk at 603-862-4242.

If you are off-campus or using wireless networks on campus, you must connect and login with the VPN client before you start running Sibelius itself.

If you are using a wired Ethernet connection, the VPN is not required.
