Logging Into an Application or Service Protected by SmartAuth
When logging into a service protected with SmartAuth, select the Public or Private option if available. If you are using a personal device (not a shared device), select Private. This will minimize how often you need to enter a passcode. Select Public if you are using a shared computer (library computer, internet cafe, etc.).
Next enter your username and password and select Submit. You will then be prompted to select one of your registered methods for delivery of the passcode.
NOTE: If you have not registered at least one phone number in SmartAuth, you will see an error message directing you to register .
If you select Voice, SMS/Text or the Authenticate App, you will be prompted to enter the passcode delivered to you via your chosen method:
If you choose 'Authenticate App', open the Authenticate app on your registered device and choose smartauth.usnh.edu to see your passcode.
Once you have successfully entered the passcode and selected 'Submit', authentication is complete and you will be logged in to the application/service.
If you choose 'Send login request', you will receive a login request on your device registered with the Authenticate app.
Select “Approve this request” to complete authentication and be logged into the application/service.
Note: Do not approve a request that you did not initiate. If you receive a request you did not initiate, select 'Deny this request' and call the UNH IT Service Desk at 603-862-4242.
