Installing Microsoft Office (Students)

UNH Information Technology has partnered with Microsoft to provide Microsoft’s popular Office suite for students, faculty, and staff.  See our Office 365 FAQ for information on what this agreement allows you to do.



For those looking to install Microsoft Office on a PC or Mac, follow these instructions:

  1. Log into your UNH Wildcats E-Mail Account. (

  2. Go to the Office 365 link in the black bar at the top of the page.  See pic below.


  3. You will see download options.

           4. Click through any prompts until you reach a screen like one of the following, depending on whether your computer is a PC or a Mac:


PC Users:


Sometimes you might not see any Office applications on the Software page, just Skype for Business. In these cases, if you click the Bell at the top of your Wildcatsmail (in header on the right, near the gear icon) there should be a "Message from Microsoft" that will allow you to install Office 365 from that message.


Mac Users:

(Update 07/10/15: Microsoft has released Office 2016 for Mac as part of Office 365 Pro Plus. Your screen may look slightly different than above.)


             5. If installing Office for the first time, click “Install now,” save the executable file to your preferred download location, and then double click it to start the install process. 

Toward the end of the process, Mac users are prompted to “Enter a purchased product key,” “Sign in to an existing Office 365 subscription,” or “Try Office 365, including Office for Mac.”  UNH users should choose “Sign in to an existing Office 365 subscription.”

             6. Download and install the add-on that will allow you to save directly to Box @ UNH
