Banner Advancement Account FAQ

What is a Banner Advancement Account?

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) maintains a database of various audiences such as alumni, donors, current students, parents of students, faculty, staff and other groups. Such data is maintained as an advancement tool to be used solely by authorized academic, administrative, and student offices, for the specific purposes of alumni relations, fundraising, and stewardship.


Who Can Get a Banner Advancement Account?

Access to alumni information at the University of New Hampshire is limited to appropriate officials as designated by the chief executive officer. The criteria for determining such official individuals shall be their need to have access to information related to the specific purposes of alumni relations, fundraising, and stewardship.


How Can I Apply for a Banner Advancement Account?

Banner Advancement accounts can be requested through the Accounts Management System by selecting "Advancement Services" and then "Banner Advancement" on the Required Services page. (Note: Do Not Use Internet Explorer).

How Do I Access Banner Advancement Once I Have an Account?

New Banner Advancement user should refer to the Banner Configuration page for instructions on how to access Banner Advancement for the first time.

After you have configured Banner Advancement, you can access the application as follows:

  1. Log into the vpn at connect.vpn.unh.edu
  2. Go to usnhgateway.org
  3. Hover over "Production Systems", then "UNH/GSC Student Banner" then select "UNH Production (PROD)"
  4. Login with your Banner Student username and password

 

How Do I Change My Banner Password?

  1. Log into the VPN at connect.vpn.unh.edu
  2. Go to usnhgateway.org
  3. Hover over "Production Systems", then "UNH/GSC Student Banner" then select "UNH Production (PROD)"
  4. Login with your Banner Student username and password
  5. Go to My Links and click on "Change Banner Password"
  6. Type your current password in the Oracle Password field
  7. Type your new password in the New Oracle Password field
  8. Type your new password in the Verify Password field
  9. Click on save icon

What are the System Requirements for Using Banner Advancement?

Banner Advancement supports computers running Microsoft Windows 7 with the following programs:

Banner Advancement is not currently supported to run on Windows 10, OS X, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or with Mozilla Firefox. You may experience limited functionality while using these unsupported operating systems and browsers.

 

Where Can I Get Training?

UNH IT does not offer training on Banner Advancement.  All training is done internally by the Alumni office. 


How Do I Get a Banner Advancement Account Disabled?

The Human Resources employee termination process is directly related to disabling of computer accounts.  On an employee's termination date his or her Banner Advancement account will be automatically disabled.  If you want an account disabled prior to an employee leaving the University, please call the UNH IT Service Desk at 862-4242. More information on the deactivation of computer accounts.
