The National Security Agency (NSA) / Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently granted UNH with an emerging CyberSecurity Center under the leadership of the Computer Science department. The center is designated as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE), the first school in New Hampshire and among the seven in New England with such designation.

UNH IT worked under the leadership of Ken Graf from Computer Science to assist with some of the material gathering and future design planning of this center, with support from the Senior Vice Provost of Research and the UNH CIO. This designation required an interdisciplinary curriculum, faculty outreach, and successful student engagement via clubs and competitive settings. Future work involves developing curriculum in cybersecurity and building a grant-funded network of support to advance the center’s mission.
