Dr. Ryan Dickson is a scientist with the New Hampshire Agricultural Experiment Station, which is part of the University of New Hampshire (UNH) College of Life Sciences and Agriculture. He is also a UNH Cooperative Extension specialist and professor of greenhouse management and technologies. He has worked at UNH for two years and specializes in greenhouse crop nutrition, irrigation, hydroponics, and plant physiology. Dickson reports that working with Dan on his research project was both satisfactory and fun, and they both learned a great deal about controlling plant height in hydroponics. He has mentored several undergraduate researchers in his lab, but Dan is the first URA recipient and Inquiry author. Dickson is enthusiastic about students learning to write for academic and general audiences and believes the ability to explain technical information clearly is important for their future academic and professional careers.
