Why did you choose to become an Apartment Manager?
During my time as an undergrad at UNH I was an RA and a CA and developed a deep love for the campus and those that make it great. I also grew a curiosity about what a career in higher education would look like! Some of the most influential people in my life at UNH were the Hall Directors and Apartment Managers I had the pleasure to work with and be mentored by. These relationships fostered my desire to become an apartment manager and work with students throughout their college experience. Being a blip on one's journey is so rewarding when you consider all the wonderful things students can go on to accomplish!
Why did you choose to work for Housing at the University of New Hampshire?
After college, I wanted an opportunity to give back to the campus that was so pivotal in my development and work with emerging student leaders! Housing is such a unique department at UNH, and there are so any opportunities to work with folks who really see the whole picture of the student's live-on experience. There is a wonderful network of cooperation in our department to achieve our mission. It was clear that Housing's goals aligned with my own.
What advice would you give to students?
Be sure to make time for the things that bring you joy! Burnout is real and self-care is important!
